Vango Icarus 600 Tent
Described as one of the best selling tents in 2010 the Vango Icarus 600 tent offers spacious outdoor living with 2 extremely roomy bedroom areas.
The tent is also very easy to pitch with a ‘flysheet first’ structure making pitching time in the region of 20 minutes though with practice this can be almost cut in half!
The tent has a ‘sewn in’ groundsheet which stops moisture, drafts and unwanted visitors! I would however, recommend investing in the ‘porch’ canopy structure which makes life so much easier in the event of wet weather – it also provides a generous cooking area.

The Vango Icarus 600 tent is described as being suitable for up to 6 persons and while this is true, I would suggest it would be fairly cramped if it were 6 adults – the tent is more than ample for 4 people with both bedrooms comfortably accommodating double (or 2 single) ‘inflatable beds.
Here in the UK, we have to be prepared for inclement weather (in other words rain!) and so any tent purchased must be able to withstand such horrid conditions – The Vango Icarus 600 stands up perfectly to both high wind and heavy rain but as stated previously the ‘porch’ canopy is well worth the investment as it allows the main tent to remain dry and free of wet shoes!
The Vango Icarus 600 tent is marketed as a weekend tent but for 4 people it can easily provide comfortable camping accommodation for a week and probably beyond.
Although the Vango Icarus 600 tent is extremely spacious, there is a larger version of this model; the Vango Icarus 600 XL Family Tunnel Tent which is a Limited Edition model.
The tent is effectively the Vango Icarus 600 but it has an additional area aded to the front that extends the living space by a substantial 1.2m. There are two extra windows to provide even more light.
A very useful addition to the 600 tent range is the Front Enclosed Canopy which provides more space and is ideal for a dining area.
Here is a great video showing you how easy the Vango Icarus 600 is to pitch, towards the end of the video you are also shown how to erect the Front Enclose Canopy – again very easy to do!
